Interesting architecture don´t you think? Ist his the future? Will we live in treehouses, as our ancestors? Hope there will still be trees in the future....

Because Mitchell Joachim from the Mit Media Lab, in the USA propose to build a house not on a tree, but out of a tree.. The idea is to "guide" the tree so it can grow up in a way that it can be a house for a family. Do you see any problem? Ecologically correct, responsable, comfortable.. this project has all the good characteristics to be consider as the the future of sustainable building. Just a moment.. is not ready yet.. THis house needs decades to be build.. but that is not the problem. The real problem is that if everyone wants one of this houses, I have to change my job!!!

The fly will leave soon this fantastic city. But the journey continues....

Every time someone think, propose, or just talk about possible sustainable applications in the artistic heritage, a very strong opposition comes up. That happens particulary in Italy, where the artistic and historic buildings, cities, appear as an open air museum where nobody can´t and shouldn´t do anithing. That is a great idea you would say! But of course there is a problem.. It seems like some things as awful solar panels, terrible wind turbines, or tremendous PV can ruin centuries of history and of course the marvellous sightseeing in the most famous lagune of the world, while huge cruiseboats can entry in Piazza San Marco without problems..

Great! So let´s continue this way.. I rather prefer the second foto anyway...

Tra le molte diverse e nuove alternative che si possono trovare nel nuovo mondo dell´Internet 2.0, segnaliamo Diggita, un sito di Servizio indipendente di Giornalismo partecipativo. In pratica i lettori diventano giornalisti, pubblicano le notizie che trovano piú interessanti che poi vengono votate e valutate. In base al punteggio salgono di importanza nella classifica delle notizie e vengono cosí seguite da molto piú pubblico. Aspetto non trascurabile, forse il piú interessante, é che il sito condivide con i propri "giornalisti" i   ricavi pubblicitari del sito.. sará arrivata l´ora in cui riusciremo a sbarazzarci dei telegiornali preconfezionati su misura? Questo é un augurio.. visitate il sito!!

Pero de que se trata? El concepto, ya desarrolado hace algunos años por unos técnicos alemanes y propuesto también en Australia, se basa en un principio muy simple.. El aire, que pasa por debajo de la cobertura en material transparente que veis en la foto de arriba, se calienta y entra en en la torre aumentando su velocidad. Al pasar por una turbina colocada en la base ( o en su tope ) de esta torre, genera energia. Este principio estaba ya muy conocido; en Australia hace unos años se queria implantar una de esta torres, pero es la primera vez que se considera verdaderamente su construcción. En España lo hará la Empresa Campo 3 en Fuente el Fresno, Ciudad Real. Esta enorme torre podrá generar 40 megawatios de electricidad al año cuya producción energética ahorraría unos 140.000 barriles de petróleo y evitaría la emisión de 75.000 toneladas anuales de dióxido de carbono. Además, junto a la torre se explotará un invernadero de 250 hectáreas.

 Veremos por fin chimeneas y torres que no emiten sustancias tóxicas y contaminación para producir energia...?

Recently in the net I´ve found some interesting studies, projects and publications about an interesting topic which will have enormous echo in the future.. The vertical farms..

What is exactly a vertical farm? Why building it? And of course.. It is possible and economically convenient?

Probably the answers are still to find, but in the meanwhile architects, designers, ecologists start to thinking something new..

The Living Tower, by Pierre Sartoux, it´s one example of this studies as well as The Vertical Farm Project, which presents a variety of solutions explaning the possibilities and viability of the projects. In this case there is only one problem...Who will deal with such a big investment? The  possible investors proposed are big food companies or international corporations which already have a monopoly on this market...

Wouldn´t be a good idea to create a Social Network of citizens, ( every one of them with his little piece of garden in the center of Manhattan ) and groups of  small companies with the intent of creating a joint-venture with thousands of  members and the aim to invest in the future?

Prima volta per "l´occhio della mosca".. con questa rubrica vi proponiamo di guardare la cittá in cui vivete sotto un altro punto di vista. Perché una mosca? Perché puó entrare ed arrivare ovunque,  e specialmente perché la mosca vede cose alle quali non siamo per niente abituati..

Primera vez para "el ojo de la mosca"..  bajo este lema os proponemos que mireis la ciudad en la cual vivis bajo otro punto de vista. Y porque una mosca? Porque puede entrar en cualquier sitio, y especialmente porque la mosca vee cosas que a veces nisiquiera notamos..

Perché nei volantini pubblicitari che mi intasano la cassetta della posta, non trovo mai scritto quanto consuma un apparecchio elettrico??.. La risposta la sapete giá benissimo.. perché altrimenti non si venderebbero! In un articolo del 2  Novembre 2007 de " Il Sole 24"  si riportano i risultati di uno studio sui costi  energetici di utilizzo eseguito su 40 apparecchi. Il sunto? Costi annui di gestione del solo televisore a schermo piatto, dai 50 ai 100 euro in bolletta, a seconda dei modelli..  In poche parole, in dieci anni ti paghi un altro televisore con quello che spendi di energia elettrica per farlo funzionare! Speriamo almeno che tra dieci anni mi mandino la pubblicitá per mail anziché riempirmi la cassetta...

The Island of Samsø, in the east coast of Denmark, provides to the 100 % of its energy needs by sustainable and renewable energy. The important thing, in my opinion, ist that in this case there is also a community aspect. In fact, almost every citizen of the island is involved or has interests in this business. You will say: " ok, but they have a great potential in using wind as a source of renewable energy" well, that´s partially right ( 75% of the energy production comes from wind turbines ), but they also use another large amount of others " sustainable energies" as biogas plants ( 21 % ), solar cell plants ( 1 % ), and farm-based biogas ( 2 % ). The social aspect of this project, which  it´s probably the most important, is that every householder of the island takes part in the growing of this project by being a partner ( economic or by installing a wind turbine in his own courtyard ). Probably that is the only way that we can grow with good energy education , just by getting involved and taking part of what can even be a great business, not only for the single citizens but for the entire community.

Well, mister Gehry, I think that the important question then is: What is good architecture? Unfortunatly I can make this question only in my blog for those who read me because you didn´t gave the oportunity to make you questions.. I have my own opinion of what should be the answer.. But I suppose it would be considered "fetish" if I say that good architecture is the one which can make the people´s life better.. That of course is very different from spectacular architecture which is also necessary, but probably not the best...

He notado una carácter más europeo.. Que significa?

El aspecto más internacional no se nota por la multitud de tiendas y locales de firmas extranjeras, ni por la gran cantidad de turistas que te encuentras a todas horas y en cuqlquier rincón, ni tampoco por el gran número de artistas de calle que ocupan las Ramblas.. No..

La diferencia se nota en partes de la ciudad que hasta hace poco sólo los barceloneses conocian pero que ahora empiezan a poblarse de turistas, tiendas, y gente de todo tipo. Me refiero a las nuevas áreas de remodelación de la ciudad. En ellas he notado de manera más acentuada el cambio. Y lo he notado en la gente que vive alli. De hecho tiene que ser un gran cambio pasar de vivir en un apartamento de protección oficial de los anos cincuenta a encontrarse rodeados de rascacielos de lofts, o pasear en el nuevo parque de Nouvel o el de Miralles-Tagliabue ( por cierto ahi van algunas fotos de estos ), o salir a tomar una cerveza entre los rascacielos de Perrault y coger el tranvia para ir de compras al Paseig de Graca.. Estas zonas, antiguamente en las afueras de la ciudad, con pocos medios de comunicación, se estan convirtiendo poco a poco en los nuevos centros de la  ciudad.Por un lado esto está muy bien. Los "decisores" ( así llamo a promotores inmobiliarios, arquitectos, inversores, políticos, etc ) han encontrado la fórmula que parece agradar a todos. Los arquitectos tienen la ventaja de poder "hacer por fin un poco de arquitectura-experimentación", los inversores tienen la ventaja de tener la casi total garantia de que están invirtiendo su dinero de forma adecuada, y los políticos la certeza de poder anadir a su curriculum la renovación de una parte de ciudad.

Al parecer salen todos ganando. Pero lo que me pregunto es: alguno de estos decisores se ha preguntado si saldrán ganando también los habitantes? Seguramente se puede opinar que han mejorado su nivel de vida, tienen más servicios y oportunidades que aprovechar, y probablemente al final sea efectívamente así.. pero lo quem e parece fundamental es no olvidarse nunca que los ciudadanos, la población, es la verdadera destinataria de nuestras intervenciones...

Quizás partiendo de la gente y no de los proyectos conseguiriamos mejorar los proyectos y no la gente....

Perché siamo nel 2007..

Perché c´é molta gente che ha cose da dire e non trova spazio. Questo é il vero motivo. Qui si parlerá di architettura, sostenibilitá, viaggi, e di persone..

Perché sono quelle che fanno architettura, sostenibilitá e viaggiano..

Sará il blog dei perché. Molte domande ci passano per la testa e per pigrizia, timidezza o perché abbiamo altro da fare, rimangono nell´aria. Beh, forse qualcuna di queste potrebbe prendere forma qui, dove speriamo, qualcuno sará in grado di trovare anche una risposta..

Al centro del blog non ci sono architettura, sostenibilitá, interessi, cultura, arte.. Queste sono le scuse per parlare con la gente della gente

Sono le persone che fanno tutto questo..
